Derek Riggs is an English artist and illustrator who is best known for creating the album cover art for Iron Maiden’s first ten albums, as well as numerous singles and EP covers. He was born on December 30, 1958 in Petersfield, Hampshire, England. Riggs started his career as a painter and illustrator in the 1970s and gained notoriety in the 1980s for his work with Iron Maiden. He has also done artwork for other bands and artists, as well as for books, magazines, and other media. Riggs is known for his distinctive, highly detailed style and his use of bold, vibrant colors.

Having designed characters for multiple studios, owing his own company, Silvertoons, Inc. and the Art school “Silver Drawing Academy”, Stephen has now taken his knowledge to train and conduct workshops and seminars worldwide for corporations, schools, animation and gaming studios teaching the participants mindset for creative development and character design in order to help spark creativity and innovation. He is the author of 10 published books on the Art of sketching, conquering artistic struggles, Character design, Caricature and Life Drawing.
